George Socka has a long track record in
assisting business to maximize the potential of computer technology. He founded BeachDigital.com
inc. to focus that experience on the business use of internet information
technology.
He has practiced as an independent management consultant, combining strategic planning
with hands-on implementation and management of computer technology since 1991. His clients
have been Canadian divisions of multinational corporations, such as Frigidaire, Allergan,
Reed Exhibitions, Trumpf and Newark Electronics, as well as Canadian
Companies such as Video Furniture International, Videoscope, Community Living Mississauga and the Society of Management Accountants
of Canada.
He gained extensive experience in technology management and implementation in a broad
range of multinational corporations as a consultant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, and
later, Deloitte & Touche. He worked with medium sized and family operated firms as a
consultant with Zittrer, Siblin, Stein, Levine, Chartered Accountants in Montreal (now a
part of Ernst & Young).
He has experience in industry with a large packaging manufacturer, in transportation
and in retail.
George is a Certified Management Accountant who is actively involved with the Society
of Management Accountants, as a past chairman of the Toronto Chapter, and a past Governor
of the Society in Ontario. He is a Certified Management Consultant who is actively
involved with the Institute of Certified Management Consultants. He was an editor and
writer for the Institute's Management Practices in Information Technology
handbook.
He has written articles and spoken to business audiences across Canada on a variety of
subjects related to information systems management.
George is a Commerce graduate of McGill University. He has taught computer programming
at McGill and accounting at Seneca College.
